Netflix finally broke its silence and explained why it decided to hire a new actor for the lead role rather than ending the series with the original Geralt.
“There are so many great, iconic characters played by different actors, and we’re very optimistic,” Peter Friedlander, head of editorial for Netflix US and Canada, told Variety. “We will continue to honor IP, fans and the story to the end.”
Friedlander also added, “Henry is an extraordinary Geralt and I think Liam will continue to be an extraordinary Geralt.”
Recall that in October, Henry Cavill announced that he was leaving The Witcher after three seasons. Geralt of Rivia will be replaced by actor Liam Helmsworth. A little later, the reasons for Henry Cavill’s departure from the series became clear.
