CNN Unveils 2023 Original Series and Movies: Projects Include ‘Giuliani,’ Jake Tapper Hosted ‘United States Of Scandal’ And ‘The 2010s’

CNN has released its list of series and films planned for 2023, as the original project unit prepares to scale back production and take it in-house.

Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog also return with another project from their Decade project, this time focusing on the 2010s.

But the series will look very different in the coming years, as the network announced in October that it was moving away from original series and films and ending collaborations with outside partners. Most of the projects on the board were underway before the decision was made.

Giuliani: What happened to the mayor of America?: Featuring interviews with friends and former colleagues, the four-part series tells the story of how Giuliani went from post-9/11 hero to leading promoter of conspiracy theories for the 2020 election. CNN Original Series and Left/Right are partners in the project, which will launch with two episodes on January 8.

The 2010s: The decade of Instagram, President Barack Obama, marriage equality, Black Lives Matter, #MeToo and Trumpism are already the source of a retrospective as Hanks-Goetzman-Herzog returns as executive producer.

United States of Scandal with Jake Tapper: The CNN anchor and chief Washington correspondent hosts a six-part series in which he sits down with people at the center of a scandal and explores what motivates them to “break the rules and what happens when they get caught.” the network said. . The project is produced by The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), a division of Sony Pictures Television.

Vegas: The Story of Sin: The project, which has a working title, is a four-part series covering the last 70 years of the legendary desert gaming mecca. It is produced by Bungalow Media + Entertainment. Executive producers are Robert Friedman, Stephen J. Morrison and Mike Powers.
