We curd them, don’t we? Well, the pretext is all found to snuggle under a very warm plaid, and devour these albums for the little ones, with the family.
Not orange, from 3 years old
Yeah ok, I know I have easy tears, but Not orange by Giorgio Volpe, illustrated by Paolo Projetti and published by Editions D’Eux is overwhelming. From the beauty of the drawings to the poetry of the chosen words, everything is there. The story is soft like a very warm plaid, it tells the story of an abandoned little penguin who is raised by a polar bear, and who wants to discover all its colors, in a world that is all white and cold. The bear shows him many, but when the young penguin asks to discover the color orange, the bear’s heart sinks and he takes him to a group of orange-necked penguins, to leave him among his own. It’s heartbreaking and beautiful and sweet at the same time, a marvel.
The opinion of our little 4 and a half year old reader: ” But will she see her papa bear again one day? But why does he abandon her? In her place, I would have stayed with the bear all my life »

Gaston Grognon: Christmas sucks, from 5 years old
Gaston Grognon is, as his name suggests: surly. He pouts, he moans, he’s not happy, and this time he’s decided that Christmas sucks. In this new album by Suzanne and Max Lang, released by Casterman, all of the monkey’s friends try to show him through A+B that Christmas is a good holiday and that everyone benefits from it, for many reasons. Find out how Gaston finally lets himself be convinced in a new adventure with warm and joyful designs.
Our 6-year-old reader’s opinion: ” This Gaston is crazy, Christmas, it’s too good! Maybe it’s because he’s a monkey and would rather eat than bananas… »

T’choupi, my recipes for good cakes, from 3 years old
Yes well, everyone (or almost) knows T’choupi. This time the pet doesn’t come to tell stories, but presents recipes for cakes that are perfect for tea time. Illustrated by Thierry Courtin, all the recipes can be made by little ones and are, as well as being pretty, absolutely delicious. Icing on the cake: the book comes with a small whisk, which immediately makes you want to get your hands dirty.
Our 5-year-old reader’s opinion: ” Do we have to choose just one cake to make? We can’t we make them all at once and vote our favorite when we’ve eaten them all? »

The winter lane, from 3 years old
Written by Céline Comtois and drawn by the talented Geneviève Després, La Ruelle immerses us directly in our childhood memories during winter. Snowball fight, fort building, the whole story makes us want to drink hot chocolate while watching the snowflakes fall. It is comforting and warm and pleasant and makes you want to read it again and again.
The opinion of our little 7-year-old reader: ” When does snow happen to us? That I can bombard you with balls »

December 24, from 3 years old
Another beautiful album designed by Geneviève Després, written by Arthur Drouin and published by D’Eux. The story is that of Fanny, a little snow hare, who decides to celebrate Christmas with all her friends from the far north, and who hope that Santa Claus, around her, will pass by their house. A beautiful fairy tale for the holidays, which immediately immerses us in the warm atmosphere of this end of the year, and makes us want to decorate the whole house while drinking a cinnamon herbal tea.
The opinion of our little 4-year-old reader: ” A reindeer named Montmartre and the Santa Claus offering his hat, does he even exist in real life? »

The child of the orchestra, from 4 years old
Such a cute musical tale, which has managed to combine the beauty of music – a CD is supplied with the album – and the beauty of words. It’s a winning bet for Morgane Raoux and Maud Legrand! Their book, edited by Nathan, is a little nugget that tells the story of Ama, a little girl who lives with her mother, an orchestra conductor, and who tries to find out who is her father. Transported from city to city, living in theaters and concert halls, she tries to discover the true identity of her parent, imagining him as best she can, looking for points of similarity with all the men in the orchestra company. A sweet, poetic and warm tale, which has a fascinating ending.
Our 6-month-old reader’s opinion: ” But Ama, does she never go to school? Does she live anywhere? She’s actually a bit of an adventurer. »

Once upon a time, from 6 years old
Once upon a time, written by Anne-Fleur Multon, illustrated by Célia Housset and published by “On ne compte pas pour du beurre”, is a feminist and current reinterpretation of classic fairy tales that we all (or almost) know by heart. Three stories are revisited: Cinderella, The beauty and the Beast And Nutcracker. Each story is updated and Cinderella, who her father thinks is a boy, can go to the ball in her best dress, Belle faces the Beast and young Miran defends the Nutcracker tooth and nail. A beautiful album to offer to all children who gorge themselves on fairy tales, so that they can have another version of the story, more current and rooted in modernity.
The opinion of our little 6-year-old reader: ” Me too, later I’ll be like Belle ! »

Fables of Marie de France, from 6 years old
Everyone knows the The Fables of La Fontaine, but they are not the only ones to have marked the spirits. 500 years before John lived Maria, and she was the first to write these fables so famous today, inspired by Aesop. Today, thanks to the Talents Hauts editions, to Christian Demilly, who was able to translate Marie de France’s fairy tales from ancient French to the most modern, and to the talent of Fred L., an illustrator with a delicate pen, these fairy tales come back to life.
Our 8-year-old reader’s opinion: “Ah, but I know those stories! It looks like the grasshopper and the ant, only here it’s the cricket and the ant! »
