This is called a large beam. France Info revealed that mainly on November 15 and 16, 48 people were arrested by the police. They are accused of having “downloaded and viewed child pornography images and videos on a large scale”. For some, the content is “particularly violent”.
These simultaneous arrests took place as part of an operation coordinated by the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP). All those arrested are currently in custody in the premises of the judicial police, which is trying to ascertain whether some have gone beyond the simple consultation of images and videos. Indeed, if there has been a passage to the act, they could be targeted by prosecution for paedo crime. “Collectors” have already been identified, who keep hundreds, sometimes thousands of child sexual abuse content on their computers.
Juvenile offenders from 26 to 79 years old
Of the 48 people arrested, they are all men, mostly in their 40s. The youngest is 26 and the oldest is 79. Their profiles are very varied, some are blue-collar workers, others managers, still others retirees. Social workers and foster families, but also local elected officials and national education officials are also part of the lot. Among them, a mayor of a town in the Côte-d’Or, whose identity is currently unknown.
