This original foundation application technique is going viral in Korea

Say goodbye to sponges, brushes and other accessories for applying foundation! In Korea there is talk of a more original tool for an ultra-natural result: the spatula!

To apply your foundation without risking fingerprints, you can rely on various tools such as brushes and silicone makeup sponges or Beauty Blender type foam. Appreciated by both professionals and individuals, these very practical beauty accessories melt the material on the skin and stretch it as much as possible, thus avoiding the effects of excess thickness and demarcations.

In recent months, a tool halfway between a butter knife and a trowel has attracted particular attention due to its effectiveness but also for its originality: the spatula. And it is especially popular in Korea, where many make up artist use it to achieve the famous flawless and incredibly natural complexion of K-pop idols.

The spatula, an original accessory for applying foundation

In a TikTok video that has been viewed over 1.5 million times, Korean content creator @jennypysch_ recently explained how to use the palette knife and get a rosy complexion from Sharon, the national flower.

After applying a pump of liquid foundation on the back of her hand (she uses a product from the Kosas brand, not distributed in France but some references of which can be found on MonCornerB), the young woman slides the edge of the spatula into the product so as to take a small amount, then pass the accessory over the skin horizontally, starting from the center of the face and going up towards the ears, so as to stretch the material outwards.

Then use a slightly dampened sponge to finish the result, then add a second layer of product to achieve the desired coverage. And of course, the result is envy!

If we were gossiping, it seems that Jenny’s more than perfect skin (and perhaps smoothed with a filter) has something to do with it, but she’s not the only one to have succumbed to this technique, and it must be admitted that the rendering is each time quite as convincing as natural.

I couldn’t sew @jenny 🙁 Anyway, even though mine isn’t that smooth due to my texture, I’ll be using this technique more for sure. #makeuphacks #foundationhack #makeupspatula

If you want to test the spatula to apply your foundation, you will find models at low prices on many sites such as Amazon and AliExpress. And before that thought occurs to you: no, we don’t recommend trying this with a knife.
