From 17 October, the telephone number, 116 006, to contact in case of domestic violence appeared on the packaging of Dolce pizzas. Soon it will also be listed on Salades et Cie and in November on PIZZ. In all, the labels of 35 million Sodebo pizzas and salads will be changed. An initiative that will last 6 months. “We are a family business and are led by three women. Protecting families is one of our values, ”explains Patricia Brochard.

The Vendée brand is not being tested. Already during the imprisonment of spring 2020, in the face of the increase in cases of domestic violence, the gendarmerie of Montaigu (in the Vendée) had asked for the help of the company. The emergency number 39 19 appeared on the pizza packaging. This time the company agreed to lend a hand to the national gendarmerie, and for two reasons: in addition to domestic violence, their collaboration should also focus on digital violence, whose emergency number is 30 18.

Marketing for a cause or vice versa?

Asked about the effectiveness of this approach, Patricia Brochard says: “In fact, every person who calls should be asked where they saw the number. It is probably a small stone in the building, but even if it helps, it also saves one or two people, it will make sense of the action. Marketing for a cause or vice versa? When it comes to violence, perhaps the only thing that matters is the saving effect it can have on the victims.

As such, Sodebo isn’t the first brand to serve a good cause. Camaïeu, for example, has amply demonstrated its support for the Solidarité Femme Accueil (SOLFA) association with a shock campaign to combat domestic violence. If the intention was applauded, the form was still debated. On his website, women with signs of violence had replaced the models and 39 7 pm had appeared instead of the price of the clothes. It should be noted, however, that in a few months the operation allowed to raise more than 50,000 euros for SOLFA. On the other hand, Camaïeu was placed in compulsory administrative liquidation and its shops closed completely in early October.
