Star Trek co-stars Simone Pegg (Dawn of the Dead, Mission: impossible franchising) e Sofia Boutella (Hotel Artemide, The Mummy) are protagonists Charlotte Gainsbourg (Meloncholy) AND Quentin Tarantino in the function Only what we bringmarking Tarantino’s biggest screen role since Robert Rodriguez’s classic From dusk to dawn (1996).
The drama, which quietly concluded in Deauville, France, is the last from the Welsh writer and director Jamie Adams (She is love, Wild honey cake!). Other cast members include the French actor Liam Hellman (Ibiza) and singer Lizzy McAlpine in his feature film debut.
Against the backdrop of the windswept coast of Normandy, Only what we bring it is described as “a meditation on love, loss, and the quiet courage needed to move forward.”
Pegg plays Julian Johns, “a once-formidable instructor whose former student Charlotte Levant (Boutella) returns home to face the ghosts of her past. They are joined by John Percy (Tarantino), an old friend of Julian’s whose sudden arrival awakens long-buried truths; Josephine Chabrol (Gainsbourg), Charlotte’s protective sister; Vincent (Hellmann), a restless artist caught between love and loyalty; and Jacqueline (McAlpine), a young aspiring dancer whose presence forces everyone to face the weight of what they left behind.
Director Jamie Adams, who specializes in an improvisational style, said: “It has always been a dream of mine to shoot an Eric Rohmer-style film in Normandy, a dream that included collaborating with an exceptional international cast and crew. It turns out that, by embracing the freedoms of independent filmmaking, that dream became a reality. I will be forever grateful to the cast and crew of Only what we bring for this moment.”
Tarantino has appeared in most of his films, including Once upon a time in Hollywood (2019). He also had small roles in other films and series and narrated the 2022 series Super pumped.
Only what we bring is currently in post-production and has not yet set a release date.
