Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe also did not step aside and offered his condolences. “Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He always made us laugh when we were kids on set. I remember how in Prisoner of Azkaban, when we spent hours hiding from the pouring rain in Hagrid’s cabin, he lifted our spirits and told stories and jokes to keep morale high. I feel incredibly lucky to have met and worked with him, and I am so sorry he is no longer there. He was an incredible actor and a great person.”

Neville Longbottom artist Matthew Lewis also paid tribute to his colleague. “He didn’t care about the little things and that always made him smile. He’s a giant in many ways.”

Emma Watson, who plays the role of Hermione, also joined in the condolences. “Robbie was the funniest uncle I’ve ever had. His talent was so great that it really made sense to play a giant – he could fill any place with his brilliance. Robbie, if I’m as nice as you on set, I promise I’ll do it in your memory. I really miss your cuteness, nicknames, warmth, laughter and hugs.

James Phelps, who plays Fred Weasley, told a touching story from day one on set. “I will miss casual conversations with him about anything under the sun. And I’ll never forget that in September 2000, on my first day on set, a very nervous 14-year-old Robbie Coltrane came up to me and said, “Enjoy the process, you’ll be great.” Thank you for that.”

Also, the official Harry Potter Twitter account expressed its deepest condolences. “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the amazing Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid with such kindness, heart and humor in the Harry Potter films. He was a great actor, a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed.”
