Harvey Weinstein’s second trial
This Monday October 10 opened, before the Los Angeles courthouse, the second test by former Hollywood godfather Harvey Weinstein. Now 70 years old, the manufacturer of pulp Fiction had already been sentenced to 23 years in prison in March 2020 in New York.
His sentence is likely to be heavily extended. Indeed, Weinstein is the subject of five new allegations of sexual assault and rape. The facts would have taken place in hotels Los Angeles and Beverly Hills between 2004 and 2013. Among the accusers we find in particular the actress Lauren Young or an Italian model. According to varietythe similarity between the testimonies of the five complainants would allow the prosecution to advance a procedure of the sexual predator.
90 complainants
As a reminder, these are close to ninety women who accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment, sexual assault or rape. But if these complaints are not tried, it is because the limitation period has expired in the vast majority of these cases. Among the complainants are in particular Salma Hayek, Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie or Gwyneth Paltrow.
As during his trial in New York in 2020, Harvey Weinstein states not guilty and claims that these women were consenting. In case of conviction, the producer incurs 140 years in prison additionalwhich would then increase his sentence to 163 years.
