Disney+ has announced that it has released a documentary about Mickey Mouse, perhaps one of the most famous characters that has truly become an icon. The movie will be called “Mickey: The Story of a Little Mouse” and will be released on November 18 in honor of Mickey’s birthday.
“Mickey Mouse is a symbol that has accompanied us to this day. We all know it, but it means different things to everyone. We felt that Mickey deserved a documentary that was both upbeat and honest. I’m glad Disney allowed us to dig this deep into the evolution and meaning of the most famous mouse,” said director Jeff Malmberg.
The story begins with a frame from 1954, where Walt Disney talks about how Mickey Mouse affected the fate of all of Disney. “Remember one thing, it all started with a mouse,” Walt says. Check out the first teaser!
As we said earlier, Disney will lose the exclusive rights to Mickey Mouse in 2024, and in early 2022, Disney also lost the rights to the character Winnie the Pooh and other heroes from writer Alan Milne’s fairy tales. Now the rights are in the public domain and anyone can use the heroes without having to coordinate the issue with the copyright owner.
