Top Gun: Maverick continues to break new records! The action movie starring Tom Cruise entered the top 5 highest-grossing films in American film distribution history. The movie grossed $701 million at the box office, surpassing the famous “Black Panther”.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film managed to go down in history as the most popular and highest-grossing film just 15 weeks after its premiere. Last weekend alone, $7.9 million tickets were sold.
“There is no doubt that Top Gun: Maverick is a true cultural touchstone that showcases the full power of the cinematic experience. “As we celebrate such a great success and the impact of the film, we want to express our gratitude to the director and the entire team to Tom Cruise,” said Brian Robbins, President and CEO of Paramount Pictures.
Top Gun: Maverick’s top-grossing movies to date competed with Avatar, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Avengers, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
We have previously written that the film grossed $51 million on the first day of its release in the United States. The film thus placed second on Paramount’s list of the most successful premieres, surpassing “Iron Man 2” with $51.2 million.
