Serena Williams is at the last US Open of her career (recently, 40-year-old Serena announced she plans to retire from the big sport). Williams defeated Danka Kvinic 6-3, 6-3 in the first round. The match, in which the legendary athlete participated, broke the record for attendance at the US Open – there were 29,402 people in the stands. Among them are stellar fans: Bill Clinton, Mike Tyson, Hugh Jackman, Anna Wintour, Keun Latifah and others. His wife Alexis Ohanian and daughter Alexis Olympia also came to support Serena.

For Serena, this evening was a moment when not only sports but also fashion triumphed. She appeared in court in a Nike dress specially designed for her, in which several important symbols were encoded. The outfit is finished with a crystal-embroidered train that Williams took off before the game.

The dress itself was also embroidered with star-shaped diamonds, symbolizing the starry sky above the court, and featured a hemline layer in honor of Serena’s six victories at the US Open. The star’s sneakers are hand-plated with 400 diamonds, as well as gold tags with the words Queen (“queen”) and Mama (“mother”) and Serena’s initials. The design was developed in collaboration with Serena’s own jewelry brand, Serena Williams Jewelry.

The athlete’s four-year-old daughter repeated the look: she wore a similar dress, and Alexis Olympia’s hair with white beads resembled the hair Serena wore when she won her first US Open title in 1999.

Williams is known for her bold fashion statements on the court, from a denim miniskirt at the 2004 US Open to a black Nike jumpsuit at Roland Garros in 2018.
