JK Rowling was threatened with retaliation after she expressed her support for writer Salman Rushdie, who was attacked in New York.

After learning what happened to her colleague, Rowling tweeted (blocked in Russia):

Thereupon, a social media user named Mir Asif Aziz replied, “Don’t worry, it’s your turn.” According to the Daily Mail, Aziz is an extremist who previously described Rushdie’s assassin as a “revolutionary Shiite fighter.” He described himself on his page as a Pakistani student, public figure and political activist. Now his account has been deleted.

The creator of the Harry Potter world has already turned to law enforcement for protection.

Recall that the Indian-British writer Salman Rushdie was attacked during a literary event held at the Chautokva Institute building in New York. The perpetrator inflicted several stab wounds on the Booker Prize winner. Rushdie had emergency surgery and is now off the ventilator and can talk.

Rushdie is the author of the controversial 1988 novel The Satanic Verses, which sparked protests in the Muslim community. The work was considered blasphemous and banned in Iran.
