Banijay has signed an agreement to buy Sony Pictures Television Germany.
Under the terms of the deal, the heads of German Sony Pictures Television will remain, Astrid Kwentel and Mirek Nitsch, but the company will bear the name by joining Banijay’s portfolio of German labels.
Cologne-based Sony Pictures Television Germany is behind shows like Die Höhle der Löwen (at Vox since 2014); Drama Der Lehrer (which ran for nine seasons on RTL); and the ZDF crime series Kept.

Founded in 2018 by Walter and Banijay, former director of Endemol Shine Germany, Banijay Germany is one of the largest production companies in the country.
