Long Living Dead Cast members Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira surprised fans with a surprise appearance at Comic-Con Friday in Hall H, anticipating an upcoming limited series that will conclude with their characters of Rick Grimes and Michonne.

Living Dead Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of the universe, will serve as showrunner for the series, with Lincoln and Gurira serving as executive producers. The show will start next year with six episodes.

Lincoln’s character is a sheriff who led the show’s group of survivors for its first nine seasons. Although he later disappears, we eventually learn that he, in fact, survived while flying in a helicopter with Ann (Pollyanna McIntosh) and him allies with her.

Michonne de Gurira is a converted Katan survivor, first introduced in Season 3, who joins Grimes’ group and eventually falls in love with him and becomes a surrogate mother to her children. The character was last seen in season 10, looking for Ricky after learning that she may have survived his near-fatal injury to him in season 9.
