Caroline Kennedy arrived in Australia on Friday morning to begin her tenure as the US ambassador to the country, but has already taught locals a lesson in etiquette.
While the press group present wanted to question the new ambassador, a reporter strangled a female reporter and began talking to her.
Kennedy turned to look at the man and said, “Is this a woman?” she asked.
He had a smile on his face, but when he turned to the reporter and continued, “Well, it’s begun,” the message was clear.
The man was Channel Ten news anchor Hugh Rimington, who later ‘revealed’ himself on social media.

The press conference was otherwise uneventful, with Kennedy asking questions about Pacific issues until US President Joe Biden’s recent COVID-19 diagnosis.

He told reporters waiting in Sydney:
“Everyone is very excited to be working together at Quad and Pacific.” So I have a big agenda and I can’t wait to get started.
“It means a lot to me personally. My husband is here with me. We first came to Australia for our honeymoon 36 years ago, almost exactly as it was our anniversary three days ago.
I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to serve here, live here, and meet more people.”
