Polanski case: a new turning point in favor of the director?

The testimony of a former prosecutor in charge of the Polanski case will be made public, by order of a Californian court.

This is a reversal in the Polanski case. The 89-year-old future director is accused of drugging and raping Samantha Gailey in Los Angeles in 1977, when she was 13.

The publication of a previously confidential testimony

This is the website variety who disclosed the information: on July 13 a California court ordered the publication of the testimony of the former prosecutor Roger Gunson, head of the Polanski case. A testimony requested by Roman Polanski’s lawyers as well as two journalists (William Rempel and Sam Wasson) since 2010. According to the director, this information would be proof that justice would not respect an agreement concluded with himand that the judges and prosecutors were at fault.

always second variety, the agreement in question involved dismissal of the most serious charges in exchange for the recognition, by Polanski, who had a sexual relationship with a minor. The director was sentenced to three months in prison, but in the end only passed 42 days, issued early for good behavior. Feeling that the judge would be back the agreement and sentencing him to ten years in prisonPolanski fled to Paris in January 1978 and has not returned to the United States since.
