Amid the recent wave, Hollywood unions signed an agreement to extend the film and television industry’s Covid protocols until September. “This is a direct extension until September 30, 2022, with two small improvements to the capacity of the vans and the food service,” said a source familiar with the deal.
This is the eighth time the protocols have been expanded or changed since they were first adopted on September 21, 2020, under an agreement between the AMPTP and Hollywood unions: DGA, SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, Teamsters and Basic Crafts.
“The agreement maintains protocols and safeguards in the workplace that allow for a successful and lasting return to work, while allowing flexibility in response to the changing nature of the virus,” the DGA said in a statement posted on its website. “Now, due to the recent growth, products in all major manufacturing centers are implementing the stricter protocols of Part 1 of the agreement. Due to the change in conditions, the agreement offers the company the opportunity to relax protocols in areas that are experiencing low hospital admissions due to Covid. “

As regards the capacity of the van, the new regulation establishes: “When the transport is foreseen by the manufacturer, it can operate at full load. The cast and crew must wear masks while in transit. If a vehicle contains a passenger who is not wearing a face mask (for example, a make-up actor), the passengers must maintain physical distance.
Regarding the food service, the latest changes state that “self-service foods that require employees to share utensils such as food service spoons or tongs with employees who are not fully vaccinated will not be allowed. Compliance with the above fulfills the obligations imposed by the collective bargaining agreement regarding the supply of food to employees. Manufacturers are not required to provide hot meals to employees.
