‘In Broad Daylight’: first trailer for Karlovy Vary’s Canadian title

Exclusive: Here’s the first look at Canadian director Emmanuel Tardiff’s psychological drama During the day Before the premiere of Proxima (1-9 July) in the new competition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

It revolves around a rich and lonely family whose fragile balance is shaken when a daughter becomes pregnant overnight. The family tries to hide what happened from the outside world. The daughter, suffocated in the oppressive atmosphere of the house, flees in search of the father of the son and abandons the child.

With Amaryllis Tremblay, Carine Gontier Handman, David Savard, Elijah Patrice, Jean-Simon Leduc and Marianne Fortier.

Tardif shot the film in just 14 days on a $ 40,000 budget, in the midst of the Covid pandemic in August 2020.

It is produced by Montreal-based company Les Rapailleurs – Tardif, co-founded by longtime employees Léa Roy and Marie-Élaine Bédard, and by Canadian independent non-profit distributor Les Films du 3 Mars.

Replacing the festival-oriented Second East-West Second Competition, Karlovy Vary’s New Proxima Competition aims to take the work of emerging and established filmmakers beyond borders.

During the day Tardif, 27, is the third feature film since then inheritance (2021) and talk about love (2020).
