In the Altai Republic, archaeologists discovered the traces of one of the largest nomadic empires of the Early Middle Ages. In the Katand-ı monument in the Ust-Koksinsky region, scientists found rare works about the period of a state of the first Turkish Kaganat-A state to leave a deep mark on Eurasian history.
Excavations were carried out within the scope of the Katanda-2025 International Archeology Expedition, which took place between 25 July and 12 August. Altai State University experts and scientists from Kazakhstan attended. The opening of the season was Turkish stone fences – cult structures associated with monumental rituals. In one of them, archaeologists found the rare objects: a miniature copy of the iron spear of the elements of the belt, the iron chisel and the belt. Similar findings in such fences are extremely rare.
Nikolai Seregin, a doctor of historical sciences and sub -suits, said, “This is the most important confirmation of the nomadic world as an important center of the nomadic world, even after the transfer of the Imperial Center to Mongolia. The brightest days of Kaganat played a key role in the formation of cultures and ethnic communities from China to Eastern Europe.
Scientists still have very few material sources that allow the restructuring of the lives and traditions of early medieval nomads. For this reason, new findings can seriously complete the ideas about that period and confirm Altay’s special role in the history of Turkish peoples.
