Let’s remember that David Lynch and Isabella Rossellini first met in an Italian restaurant in 1985. At that time, the director had already created cult films such as Eraserhead (1977), The Elephant Man (1980) and Dune (1984).

Lynch knew the future star’s father: Rossellini Sr. He once invited her to study at the film school in Rome, but she did not know Isabella. “You have such impressive facial features! “You can be Ingrid Bergman’s daughter,” the maestro shouted, and on the same day invited her to audition for the main role in “Blue Velvet”.

“I’m glad Blue Velvet is directed by David Lynch. This is one of his best movies. He is truly a great creator. I think at first we portrayed my character as just an abused woman, but at the same time she was hiding her true self underneath the image that was required of her – sexy, singing and beautiful – she obeyed orders and suffered greatly from it. . This is the complexity of Blue Velvet but also includes the great talent of David Lynch. I think he made a great movie. “I really love Blue Velvet,” Rossellini said.

He also shared his thoughts about Lynch: “I always knew that he wasn’t listening to me by the glassy look that often appeared in his eyes. “I suspect it exists in other dimensions.”
