The stakes couldn’t be higher Mission: Impossible – The final showdownand according to the director Christopher McQuarriethe team outdid themselves once again.
The upcoming eighth installment of the franchise will push the boundaries once again Tom Cruiseand promises to leave audiences breathless… literally.
Speaking to Empire, McQuarrie revealed: “We did a little screening and someone said: ‘I was choking through the whole sequence. I almost had a heart attack.” And I thought, ‘I guess we did something right.'”
While he didn’t specify which sequence sparked such a visceral reaction, fans of the series can probably make a guess based on the jaw-dropping stunts teased in the trailer.
One of these shows Tom Cruise hanging from a biplane, engaged in brutal hand-to-hand combat, and the other sees him navigating a harrowing underwater scene.
Even Cruise, known for his recklessness, had moments of hesitation while preparing for some of these stunts, as evidenced in the behind-the-scenes footage. If Cruise is feeling the pressure, you know the stakes are high.
I am very excited about this film and it promises to deliver a spectacular ending to this epic story!
In addition to the cruise, Ving Rames, Henry Czerny, Simone Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom KlementieffAND Angela Bassetto they are reprising their roles.
Other newcomers to the franchise include Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer, Katy O’Brian AND Hannah Waddingham.
The film will be released in theaters on May 23, 2025.
