Rashida Jones, Will McCormack and Michael Govier will write the script for the Tom and Jerry feature film. The film will be released under the direction of Warner Bros Pictures Animation. Deadline reports this.
It is known that the company will start the adventures of Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse from scratch. Heroes first appeared on screens in 1940, thanks to MGM Studios. Before shutting down its animation division, the company had produced 114 short films that won 7 Oscars.
The characters also took center stage, most recently in the 2021 hybrid film Tom and Jerry starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Although the iconic cartoon has been criticized over the years for the sometimes cruel ways the cat tries to catch the mouse, the series has influenced many animated series, including The Simpsons.
