The analysis showed that around 39 million people will die from untreatable infections in the next 25 years. According to scientists, a further 169 million deaths will be directly or indirectly linked to “superbugs” that cannot be killed by drugs.

People living in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, as well as those in Southeast Asia and East Asia, will be most affected by the “new infections.” “Superbugs” will have the least impact on the health of people in Oceania and northern European countries.

Meanwhile, experts are confident that the right choice of drugs and timely treatment will reduce the number of deaths by 92 million. According to the study, the peak of cases will occur in 2050, writes the Lancet.
