
Jasvin Sanga and Salvador Palencia are set to go on trial in March. They face decades in prison for the death of Friends star Matthew Perry.
The first hearing into Jaswin and Salvador’s fate was scheduled for September 4, but has been postponed until March 4, 2025. If Sanga and Plaslencia are found guilty of the multiple charges, they will almost certainly remain behind bars until they reach old age. According to charging documents, the defendants took advantage of Perry’s addiction problems to enrich themselves, according to Deadline.
Jasvin Sanga and Salvador Palencia are charged with conspiracy to distribute a prescription substance. Additionally, Sanga is charged with maintaining a facility for prohibited substances and storing them with intent to distribute them. Palencia is charged with unlawfully distributing ketamine and falsifying documents. Neither defendant has yet pleaded guilty.
“If convicted of all charges, Sanga faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and a statutory maximum sentence of life in prison. Prosecutor Martin Estrada said Palencia faces up to 10 years in federal prison for each ketamine count and up to 20 years for each fraud count.
Defendants Eric Fleming, Mark Chavez and Kenneth Iwamasa pleaded guilty and were released on high bail. Their next hearings will be held in October and November.
Matthew Perry died on October 28th last year. He was found dead in his own hot tub. It was later determined that he had been exposed to an acute form of anesthesia that he had obtained illegally from a third party. The actor is known not only for his role as Chandler Bing on the sitcom Friends, but also for his illicit substance abuse, which he struggled to combat in the final years of his life.
