The penultimate week of August was really rich in terms of high-profile news events in the fashion world. At the beginning of the week we saw Gwendoline Christie on the September cover of Czechoslovak Vogue, followed by “Emily in Paris” Philippines star Leroy-Beaulieu on the cover of Numéro Hollanda. And of course how could we not mention Sabrina Carpenter in the new issue of Paper Magazine. And the campaigns really surprised me. This week Skims debuted a shoot with our favorite Brat Girl Charli XCX.
There were really interesting events this week, so I suggest you take a short digital journey with me into the latest news from the fashion world and learn a little more about our domestic brands, advertising campaigns and collections. Shall we start?
Earlier this year, actor Milos Bikovich became the ambassador of the Salamander brand, helping the brand to meet the audience in an updated format after rebranding, redesigning the collections and expanding the product range. Now, a new advertising campaign has been released with his participation, which is a continuation of the collaboration. The campaign tells about the search for new meanings, ideas and his own style. Milos appears as a writer in search of inspiration, and in the process of this search the slogan of the Salamander brand, “Quality through the ages”, was born. For the advertising campaign, key models from the Salamander men’s shoe collection were chosen: derbies made of elastic soft leather and textured leather imitating stingray leather, sneakers made of grained nubuck in a blue-smoky color, classic brogues with a semi-gloss sheen, a spacious bag made of coarse-grained leather and a briefcase made of leather with a matte effect.

And finally, the Russian brand Emka introduced a new collection codenamed InRed. By the way, it is dedicated to the versatility of the female nature, which requires active manifestation. As the name suggests, red occupies a special place in the new collection of the brand. It is complemented and balanced by the other three main colors. Gray symbolizes wisdom, balance and inner stability. Black speaks of certainty, self-sufficiency and security. Milky white is a recognized visual status signal. The emphasis is on the shoulders and the narrow waist. Rebellious asymmetry is adjacent to aristocratic draperies. Along with uncompromising straight lines, sharp diagonals and dynamic cuts, there are classically strict or very delicate details.
Now let’s get to the good news! More recently, the Russian brand Grunge John Orchestra appeared. The explosion celebrated its 15th anniversary. On this occasion, the team presented a temporary corner on Tsvetnoy, which will be open until August 25. It will feature a new autumn-winter 2024 collection of urban jackets, down jackets and tech parkas. And also Grunge John Orchestra. Explosion has launched a shoe line. It includes sneakers, urban walkers and Chelsea boots. “We worked on the shoe collection for a long time, because we carefully thought out every detail. For example, the soles of the sneakers are made of natural rubber obtained from the milk of the Hevea tree; this rubber is one of the highest quality in the world, it is even used in aviation. For the walkers, we purchased French Michelin soles, famous for their wear resistance,” said Ilya Nafeev, owner of GJO.E.
Ksenia Shipilova is one of the most stylish Russian girls who is not afraid to try new things and experiment with style. That’s why she attracts attention not only from Russian brands but also from foreign ones. For example, she recently became the face of the new catalog of the Romanian brand Manokhi. The campaign was created by Vogue Australia stylist Rebecca Bonavia and photographer Lucas Dvorak. By the way, at the upcoming fashion weeks in Milan and Paris, Ksenia will present the collection together with representatives of the brand.
