In a new episode of her YouTube show 73 Questions with Vogue, the “Materialist” star was asked what makes her immediately wary of a potential partner. After thinking for a moment, Dakota replied: “Men who wear flip-flops in public. Run.” Fans immediately remembered that her ex was often seen barefoot, but according to the actress, she was not seen wearing flip-flops.
Johnson and Martin began dating in 2017, two years after his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom the musician has two children. The couple had been together for eight years and even got engaged in secret, but their separation was officially confirmed in the summer of 2025. Sources claimed the relationship “has stalled” even though Dakota “loves Chris and his kids so much.”
Relatives of the couple added that they tried to start over more than once, but eventually realized they were not on the same path. “Sometimes it was easier for them when they lived in different countries and had time to get bored, but eventually the little things added up and it was all over,” the insider said.
