There are new additions to the ranks of fashion aesthetics and new cores. Meet Brat Summer – the main trend of this summer that has gone viral on social networks in just a few months. What is Brat and what should we do about it? Let’s Talk!
What is a Brat?
Brat is the name of the new album by pop singer Charli XCX. She released it at the beginning of June but it has already reached the top of foreign charts. The word brat translates from English as tomboy, which already gives us a clue about the philosophy of this aesthetic.

What is Brat Summer?
The album became so popular on social networks that it gave birth to a new trend – Brat Summer. It is worth noting that this is not just an aesthetic, but a whole philosophy. This season, girls are abandoning the imposed concepts of a clean girl and a traditional woman in favor of a freer lifestyle. They are free, brave, hooligans and do not care at all what others think of them. Such girls allow themselves to have fun and relax as they see fit, living outside the imposed framework and enjoying every moment. And this summer, influencers boldly declared that this is exactly what happened, naming the album Brat Summer in honor of Charli XCX.

What does a Brat Girl look like?
Of course, it is not enough to just be in harmony internally to support this trend. The outside is also important. This summer we are advised to move away from the “pure” aesthetic and stop being “ideal”. Slightly sloppy make-up, torn tights, smeared mascara, daring and even vulgar items are combined with delicate things, bright colors and everything that you once forbade yourself. Micro shorts, voluminous hoodies, T-shirts with childish drawings or provocative slogans – all this is approved by Brat this summer.

Charli XCX explained in an interview with the BBC that this aesthetic can even be a little “dirty.”
“It looks like a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, a white blouse with suspenders and no bra.”
This aesthetic also has a dominant color. If last year we were dazzled by the abundance of pink (thanks to Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, and the “Barbie” movie), this year, prepare for the acidic green hue on the Charli XCX album cover. So are you ready to spend the rest of the summer in Brat style?
