According to Jennifer Batten, behind the smile there was sadness and pain. “People from the outside thought he was happy. But Michael felt like he was in prison because every time he wanted to go to a bookstore or the cinema, there had to be six guards to ensure his safety,” the musician explained in an interview with The Sun.
The guitarist added that fame deprived Jackson of his freedom. It pained him to realize that despite his high income and fan base, he could not move around the city easily.
