It turns out that legendary romantic duo Kate and Leo may not exist. Famous director James Cameron admitted in an interview with Variety that he did not want to cast them in the leading roles of the Titanic movie.

The producer said Winslet’s nomination seemed obvious to him. After shooting a number of historical films (“Sense and Sensibility”, “Jude”, “Hamlet”), the actress received the pseudonym Corset Kate. What worked in Kate’s favor was that she was “very lively” and confident. “There’s a spark of life in him,” Cameron said.
The role of Rose, the young aristocrat who falls in love with Jack, a simple artist, in Titanic brought Winslet an Oscar nomination. Although the actor did not receive an award, the film collected 11 Oscar statuettes.
Leonardo DiCaprio also didn’t get the role right away. The director did not like that the actor did not want to participate in the dialogue reading from the script.
Previously, Kate Winslet opened up about how she filmed the same kiss in Titanic. Read about it here.
