Famous animator John Musker, who participated in the production of “The Little Mermaid”, “Aladdin” and many other cartoons, criticized the film versions. He named the problem that unites them all.
According to Musker, as quoted by El País, the filmmakers stopped following the logic of the stories and became too caught up in their existing messages. “I think they overdid it. There needs to be some course correction in terms of keeping the message secondary to the show, a compelling story and compelling characters,” John Musker said.
The animator cited the “Little Mermaid” film adaptation as an example, where the dynamics of the relationship between the main character and her father “sagged” but Sebastian the crab was graphically impressive.
The creator of “Hercules” and “The Princess and the Frog” noted that diversity is not that important in animation. According to him, the creators have no right to sacrifice a high-quality script for the sake of the show.
