The 36-year-old author of Think Like a Monk described how he officiated at Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding two years ago. Until recently he didn’t believe it was real.
Shetty said that he met the singer at a podcast recording in which the star appeared as a guest. They kept in touch for several years, but the writer got pretty nervous when J. Lo asked him to perform the ceremony.

“I had a question: ‘Am I in a movie or in reality? Because I’ve only seen these types of weddings in movies. Then I said: “No, no, no, this is real. Get back to reality,” Shetty recalled on “Next Question with Katie Couric.”
According to Jay, this was one of the most touching moments of his life. She literally tried to convince herself not to cry.
“As I stood next to Affleck and everyone was looking at Jennifer as she walked down the aisle in the dress, I said to myself, ‘Jay, don’t cry. Don’t cry,'” the coach opened up.
Lopez and Affleck married in Las Vegas in July 2022. A month later, they held a ceremony in front of friends and family in Georgia.
