It would be useless to feign surprise. Self-proclaimed masculinist and misogynist influencer Andrew Tate has been arrested with his brother in Romania following the UK issuing a European Arrest Warrant. Both are accused “the commission of sexual offenses and the exploitation of people in the UK” The Romanian police reported this in a statement.
Facts dating back to 2012-2015
According to the Tate brothers’ communications team, the suspicions against them date back to 2012-2015 and fall under the jurisdiction of Westminster Court. According to the same source, the complaints “had been rejected” in 2017-2019, but they did “resurfaced” these last few months.
Andrew and Tristan Tate have “categorically rejected” these allegations and say they are “appalled and deeply disturbed”.
In April and then June 2023, four women accused the American-British businessman of rape, physical and sexual violence and coercive control. They had made known their intention to initiate civil proceedings for these facts dating back to 2013-2016, a similar period to that of the accusations that have now landed them in detention.
The McCue Jury&Partners firm, which represents the four women, said it on X (formerly Twitter). “recognizing that the British authorities have taken their customers’ fears seriously.” In fact, the government was reportedly informed last week that Andrew Tate “He may have planned to flee Romania, where he is expected to appear in another trial for rape and human trafficking.” McCue Jury&Partners then alerted the British authorities, who issued an arrest warrant. “Tate is accused of numerous serious crimes against a large number of victims and must be held accountable for these actions.” the cabinet argued in a press release.
