A new category will be added to the Oscars in 2026. The reward can now be obtained for “Achievement in Casting”. The Guardian reports this.
According to the publication, the last update was presented in 2001, it was the award for “Best Animated Feature Film”. The nomination was determined after a protracted struggle between casting directors for the right to be represented at the ceremony.
“Casting directors play an important role in film production, and we are proud to add casting to the categories we know and value as the academy evolves,” the academy said in a statement.
This means that the new award will be given to the casting director who managed to choose the best cast for the movie presented to the big screen.
