Logbook: I’ve been trying to understand the benefits of a connected watch

When you’re not super sporty, you might wonder why invest in a connected watch. After a few weeks of testing a wellness watch, the answer is clear. There are 1001 reasons to succumb. The test for 7!

Whatever your level of physical activity, close to zero or close to the official recommendations, the connected watch easily finds its place in our daily lives. This is what I noticed when testing the Huawei Watch GT4.

It simplifies our lives, allows us to keep our menstrual cycle under control and helps us keep fit. Not to mention its design which is a true aesthetic jewel.

Then I’ll take you with me for a day, to the rhythm of my connected watch!

8:00: I wake up and check the quality of my sleep

I used to get up and be extremely tired despite my eight hours of sleep, which is why I was always curious about what happens when I sleep and now it’s possible thanks to the “True Sleep” feature of the Huawei Watch GT4.

My watch keeps an eye on my sleep, tells me the time I fall asleep and wake up, but above all it gives me information on the time spent in different sleep phases. I don’t know if you know, but there are three: light (the falling asleep phase), deep (considered the phase of rest and physical recovery, important for keeping fit), paradoxical (the dream phase, during this phase you also recover from mental tiredness).

My watch also marks the waking phases and gives me a score on its quality every morning. Having my sleep score and understanding my nights has pushed me to pay more attention to the number of hours I sleep and what time I go to bed. After getting used to wearing the watch for a while, I decided to change my bedtime to see if it affects my sleep cycle. Result? I learned to optimize my nights and gained energy!

10.48am: I’ve been sitting for 1 hour, time to stretch my legs

We know that sitting for too long is bad for your health. But sometimes, absorbed in our work, we forget to get up. It’s simple, when we sit without moving for more than an hour, the Huawei Watch GT4 vibrates and the small widget on the screen reminds us to get up and do some stretches.

I take the opportunity to stretch my legs by going to fill the water bottle and I make a quick trip to the bathroom. Lunch arrives, it’s also time to take a mini break with colleagues to see where we will eat this lunch. Some stomachs in open space are already starving!

12.30pm: I’m starting a new running program, my coach is my watch

I started running again some time ago and, to challenge myself, I asked my watch to do it offer me a plan to succeed in my first 10km.

After analyzing my physiological data, the AI-based algorithm offered me several action plans! I selected a five-week plan with three training sessions per week (some outings include HIIT sessions or strength training).

And I must admit that for the moment Artificial Intelligence has not made any mistakes. The plan is adapted to my abilities, I (almost) always like to go running, as a result I have become regular in my workouts!

2.17pm: Between two meetings, I get a call on my wrist

Huawei Watch GT4 has the function of answering calls on the wrist (and receiving SMS) even when the phone is 100 meters away!

A very practical option that I had the opportunity to test between two meetings, during a recharge to the coffee machine. I didn’t have my cell phone with me, but thanks to my watch I was able to receive a call from a customer who I had been trying to contact for several days without success.

6.17pm: I plan my next vacation and take a look at my period calendar

Generally I don’t take into account the arrival of my period when I go on holiday. But here we have a few days of bivouac planned, so I prefer to watch my back.

And this is good, because with its new features, the Huawei Watch GT4 predicts quite precisely the length of my cycle, the date of my next period but also the date of ovulation.

And to do this, it not only uses the data I record, but also analyzes my heart rate during sleep, my body temperature, my breathing rate… This connected watch is super smart!

7.45pm: I’m going out tonight, my watch matches my outfit perfectly

Connected watches haven’t always been super stylish. Sometimes we had to take them off because they didn’t match our outfit: too big, ugly, bulky and above all a lot sportswear.

But tonight I have nothing to worry about! With its elegant design and gold stainless steel bracelet, my Huawei Watch GT4 is perfect for my casual chic evening look. It goes perfectly with my little jeans and my black peacoat.

11.32pm: I set the alarm and fall asleep

Before I fall asleep, I take one last look at the clock to see if I’ve closed all the activity rings and if I’ve completed my 6,000 steps today.

Objectives achieved! I also exceeded the recommended number of steps to stay healthy. I set the alarm before going to sleep. My Huawei Watch GT4 has become a true feel-good companion that I would never want to part with!
