Emmy nominated actor Ian McShane appeared in all four John Wick action films like the character Winston. He will also appear in the upcoming spin-off film Dancerwhich is set between John Wick: Chapter 3 AND chapter 4 and follows a young assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family, as Wick did against those who harmed him. Ana de Armas plays the assassin, who is “trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma”.
Keanu Reeves will appear in the film and, speaking about it previously, said: “It’s a great story. Len Wiseman he has a vision, but he also embraces, fondly, the world of John Wick. Ian McShane he is present as Winston.
We haven’t heard much more about the film since we found out it hits theaters this summer, but McShane recently talked a bit about the film with Collider, first speaking about Reeves’ involvement in the role of the character John Wick, saying:
“This is set between John Wick 3 and John Wick 4, because Keanu is in it. You didn’t want to set it after John Wick 4, because then social media would be like, ‘Oh, so he’s still alive! What’s he going to do next? Is there a John Wick 5?!’ This way you can continue to pretend that there might not be a John Wick 5.”
He continued:
“This time we protect Ana de Armas, and I had my great friend, Mr. Lance Reddick. God bless you, Lance: he died last year. Lance and I bring our usual protection to Mrs. de Armas. And [director] Len [Wiseman] I found it a pleasure to work for. Again, we worked out the script ahead of time, so there was no wasted time.”
He revealed it too Gabriel Byrne will play the film’s main villain, and spoke of his enjoyment working on the film, stating:
“Sometimes they tend to make me sound like an English dictionary John Wick. They’re great writers, Michael [Finch] and Shay [Hatten] on those. We look at it, I consult them and we narrow it down to whatever. Len had conferred with Chad [Stahelski]so I think there is continuity from the other Wick movie. So it should be a lot of fun. [Ana] it was great working with him. I think Gabriel Byrne plays the main villain, so there’s a good actor for you.”
There are now a few months left until the film’s release. You can not wait? Dancer will be released in theaters on June 7, 2024.
