Kanye West apologizes in Hebrew to the Jewish community for anti-Semitic comments

Just ahead of the release of his latest album on January 12th Vulture, Kanye West apologized in Hebrew on his Instagram on Tuesday for his past anti-Semitic comments.

The rapper, who goes by the name Ye, has been heavily criticized for his anti-Semitic outbursts and is now asking the Jewish community for forgiveness.

“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any ‘inadvertent outburst’ caused by my words or actions,” he wrote (via Google Translate). My intention was not to offend or humiliate and I deeply regret the pain I have caused.”

The artist’s career imploded after a barrage of similar anti-Semitic abuse, including praise for Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. Some blame him in part for the rise in anti-Semitic hate crimes in the United States. He was widely condemned, let down by the CAA and caused many brands to cut ties, including Adidas, which ended its collaboration to sell Yeezy sneakers. He was recently rehired at X (formerly Twitter) after being suspended from the platform for seven months. One of his earlier posts appeared to contain a swastika symbol within a Star of David.

His comments were also condemned by his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who said in a tweet that she stood with the Jewish community without naming him.

“I am determined to start with myself and learn from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future,” he wrote.

“Your forgiveness is important to me and I am committed to restoring and promoting unity.”

Yes, the title track vulture Album refers to his previous comment with the text: Why am I antisemitic? I just fucked a Jewish slut.”
