An alleged serial killer has reportedly appeared in court after the bodies of two companions were discovered, one of whom had been beheaded.
According to Russian news channel Shot, 37-year-old prisoner “madman” Alexei Varakin allegedly killed two escorts in a shooting spree after he was “unable to have sexual intercourse with them”, which drove him insane.
The decapitated remains of 40-year-old Olga Vorobyova were found near a hotel in Moscow’s Izmailovo district where they allegedly met.
Vlada Skitskaya (25) was reportedly murdered a day later in her rented apartment in Moscow’s business district.
The suspect was recently released from prison after being imprisoned for the murder of two sex workers in 2010.

Shot identified the suspect as Alexey Varakin of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, adding that Ms. Vorobyova “took drugs and refused to have sex with him, so he cut off her head and ran away.”
According to Shot, Varakin wanted to “relieve stress” after Vorobyova’s murder, but was mocked by Skitskaya after he failed to act in bed.
He then allegedly attacked the 25-year-old with a knife, during which Skitskaya argued and injured her attacker.
It was reported that during the attack, Skitskaya was able to call a friend in fear and tell her that a client was trying to kill her.
The neighbors also heard her cries for help.
The police were called, but when the officers arrived, the woman had already succumbed to knife wounds.
There were apparently signs of a beheading attempt.
Moscow prosecutors confirmed on Sunday that they were investigating the recent murders of two women, without giving details other than to say that a 25-year-old woman suffered knife wounds during an argument in a house in western Moscow.

Varakin was arrested by the police and stood trial thirteen years after his first conviction
Varakin was subsequently seen in a court video in which he spent two months in custody.
He apparently confessed in court to the last two murders.
The court heard the suspect was “cured” after he was sentenced to a psychiatric hospital in 2010 for the murders of two sex workers.
