A24 has released the first seven minutes of Nicolas Cageit’s the last film Dream scenario, and this movie is really fun and crazy! I saw this movie in the theater and liked it for the most part. My biggest problem is the ending because the filmmakers didn’t know how to end the story, but it was still a wild ride.
The clip was released to promote the fact that the film is now available to rent or purchase on various digital platforms, including Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu and more.
In the film: “Unlucky family man Paul Matthews (Cage) finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. But when his nightly appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to face his newfound celebrity.
The film comes from the director Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself), and is also the protagonist Julianne Nicholson, Dylan Baker, Kate Berlant, Michael Cera, Dylan Gelula AND Tim Prati.
Borgli spoke about the film and its themes saying, “I feel like one of the aspects is that there’s a message in it, I think it’s about appreciating what’s right in front of you. And not chasing external validation as a means to self-esteem and that, you know, this character looks at the negative space of his life. He looks at what he’s missing, even though he apparently has a really good life, and he has to go through the whole journey of this movie to realize that what he had in the beginning was more than good enough.
He added: “And I think it addresses all of this so that we, the audience, don’t have to, but ultimately I want the audience to have a really fun experience. I want it to be a little mysterious. I want people to take the film home with them and let it live in their heads, maybe having strange dreams afterwards. I want them to be inspired by art and creativity.”
