Iko Uwais unleashes the fury of the jungle in the first teaser trailer for his directorial debut TIMUR

The first teaser trailer arrives directly from Indonesia Timura new intense action film that scores Iko Uwais’ debut as a director.

The actor, best known for pulling off jaw-dropping fight sequences The raid, Fist of revengeAND The Mercenaries 4he gets behind the camera for the first time to tell a story deeply rooted in the history of his home country.

Timur is based on a real-life military rescue mission during the 1996 Mapendumayang hostage crisis in which 11 scientific researchers, including several Westerners, were captured by the Free Papua Movement in the mountains of eastern Indonesia.

Uwais plays Timur, a special forces soldier tasked with leading a daring operation to rescue the hostages. The mission, however, soon becomes something more than a simple rescue.

As Timur returns to his childhood home to face a jungle full of threats, his sense of duty collides with painful memories and personal demons.

“A soldier named Timur leads a rescue team on a dangerous mission to rescue kidnapped researchers in the jungle. Trapped in a dangerous area, they must face extreme terrain, haste, and unexpected dangers.

“The film is based on a real military incident in Indonesia, the Mapendumayang hostage rescue operation that took place in 1996. In this incident, 11 scientific researchers, including some Westerners, were taken hostage [by the Free Papua Movement] in a mountainous eastern area of ​​the country”.

Joining Uwais in the cast are Jimmy Kobogau, Aufa Assagaf, Yasamin Jasem, Fanny Ghassani, Kiki NarendraAND Andri Mashadi. The script comes from Titien WatimenaAND Ryan Santoso acts as a producer.

Timur will be released in Indonesian theaters on December 18, 2025, with international release details yet to be announced.
