Olivia Dunne, LSU gymnast and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and one of the most popular influencers on social media, reportedly had a TikTok problem.
Noting that her engagement with her 7.8 million followers had dropped, Dunn asked in a video, “Why am I being relegated to the shadows?”
The practice of “shadow banning” allows content to be published, but severely limits the audience that can see it. Dunne’s last four videos have fallen below one million views, a benchmark that was previously the lowest a post could achieve.
The influencer reportedly earns $1 million a year, making her one of the top social media stars.
Dunne, 21, has already had some problems with the TikTok platform. At the beginning of the year, her account disappeared for a short time.
“It’s a mistake,” Dunne tweeted in response to one person’s question about the disappearance. “I don’t know what’s wrong with my account at the moment.” The account was restored shortly after.
Dunne returns for the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue after debuting in it last year.
