A shocked daughter heard on the answering machine how an attacker raped her disabled mother and left the vulnerable 68-year-old as she tried to call for help, French media reported.

The horrific attack apparently took place after the alleged rapist followed the woman to her home near Blanche metro station in Paris on Saturday 16 December.

The mother managed to call her daughter, but she did not answer the phone. She was then heard on a voicemail begging her attacker not to rape her, to which he responded with the sickening reply: “Spread your thighs.”

After hearing the disturbing news, the woman’s daughter immediately notified a neighbor who rushed to the victim’s apartment and scared the attacker away.

Soon after, a 28-year-old homeless man was picked up nearby by police and arrested on suspicion of carrying out the brutal attack. He remains in custody.

Paramedics took the elderly woman to hospital for examination after the attack.

She “lives alone and suffers from frontal and temporal degeneration of the brain,” a source familiar with the matter told Le Parisien.
