Today, Soviet, Georgian and French director Otar Ioseliani passed away at the age of 89. This was reported by photographer and journalist Yuri Rost. “Otar Ioseliani, a great film director, a wonderful person and my best friend, has passed away,” he wrote.

Ksenia Sobchak also wrote a post dedicated to the film director on her personal Telegram channel. “Otar Ioseliani passed away. I’ve never liked the common cliché that when adults die, a whole era passes. But it happens, yes, sometimes this is the first feeling at the departure of a person – something wonderful has ended, as if covered with a patina, moved away from you,” the journalist wrote.

Let’s not forget that Otar is the creator of the internationally awarded paintings “Falling Leaves” and “Once Upon a Song of a Thrush.” Since the early 1980s he has lived and worked in France, where he has shot much of his documentary work.
