Long discussed and debated, the school uniform experiment will soon be implemented, revealed franceinfo. The government wants to test it in some French schools, colleges and high schools, where communities volunteer.
200 euros per uniform kit
The trial is expected to begin at the beginning of the school year. September 2024, or even from spring for the most motivated communities. These include the cities of Tourcoing, Reims, Nice, the departments of Allier and Alpes-Maritimes and the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, among others.
The kit will consist of five polo shirts, two sweaters and two trousers. Its price? 200 euros. But families will not have to pay anything, for the moment National Education plans to finance these uniforms half by the State and half by the municipality, department or voluntary region.

A select few have already imagined personalizing the dress, with a badge, depending on the territory. Every child will have the right a new change of clothes a year, if the model becomes too short or if it is damaged. For the little ones, a blouse or an apron is provided for nursery school students.
Before the launch, each institution must validate the project by the board of directors or the school council to include the measure in the internal regulations. The experiment will benefit from scientific monitoring, an evaluation of the school climate and the classroom atmosphere, our colleagues report franceinfo.
