To fight against mistreatment in nursery schools, deputies have just voted on Tuesday 28 November to create a commission of inquiry into the entire sector.
Supported by La France Insoumise (LFI), the text proposes to clarify the “economic model” of the early childhood sector, where the excesses of some structures – especially private ones – are recorded — they were highlighted last April by the report of the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (Igas).
The proposal was adopted with 178 votes in favor and 161 against, with the support of the left, the independent Liot group and the National Rally, but not that of the right and much of the presidential majority.
“The fight advances so that the dignity of children cannot be sacrificed by the commodification of the sector », the leader of the Insoumis deputies, Mathilde Panot, exulted on X (ex-Twitter).

Fight against baby “factories”.
The creation of this commission after the recent publication of two works ( The price of the cotAND Baby zness ) denouncing the “baby factories” dominated by the private sector, but also the damaging Igas report. The latter was requested by the government following the death, in June 2022, of an 11-month-old girl in a private facility in Lyon. Inspectors noted that the quality of childcare was “very diverse”and had collected testimonies from both the public and private sectors, which described situations of child abuse.
On X, the National Union of Early Childhood Professionals (SNPPE) said it was enthusiastic“that deputies have voted for a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the nursery sector”.
#DirectAN The SNPPE welcomes that MPs voted in favor of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the nursery sector.#amatruvaleur💎
