Alita: Battle Angel fans really want to see a sequel to James Cameron-product Roberto Rodriguezcyberpunk film directed by a director. There has been a lot of optimism about the sequel in recent years and according to the producer Jon Landausuch talks are still ongoing.
Landau recently offered an update on the project during an interview with ScreenRant in which he confirmed that discussions about the sequel were still ongoing behind the scenes. He said:
“I’m very proud of that movie, and we were making it in conjunction with Avatar. I was on set with Robert doing all that, and Jim was involved too and saw it. One night it came on HBO, and Jim watched it. and I he called after seeing it. He said, “Jon, Alita was on, I just decided to watch it. It’s a good movie.” (laughs) And it is! So, I definitely want to be able to do more in that world.”
During a previous interview with Rodriguez he said: “Yes, Jim [Cameron] and I always talk about how much we’d love to do another Alita. That study [20th Century] it was purchased by another studio [Disney]. They’re starting to make movies now. But for a while, 20th Century didn’t make any of its own films. I think you’re seeing some coming out now. We’d like.”
Landau we previously talked about the sequel saying, “We’re very excited about that prospect. Alita is a movie that, even though we rewatched it recently for what we had, we’re really proud of that movie. And we think there’s other stories to tell with his character and that’s why we want to go back.”
The producer also explained that when they make the film, they will use the cinema technology created to help bring it Avatar 2: The Way of Water to life: “I think what we learned from Avatar is how much more nuance and facial subtlety we can put into the characters that we want to be emotional and that are humanoid. Alita wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for what we did on Avatar. Avatar: Way of Water would not be what it is but what we did for Alita. And now let’s put it back and give it back to Alita. We are talking to Robert and Rosa and everything is fine.
The film is based on the manga series Gunnm Of Yukito Kishiro. The story is set several centuries in the future, the abandoned Alita is found in the Iron City landfill by Ido, a compassionate cyber-doctor who brings the unconscious cyborg Alita to his clinic. When Alita awakens, she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to protect her from her attacks. mysterious past.
Cameron and Rodgriguez initially planned a trilogy of films, and Cameron wrote more than a thousand pages of notes that would cover the entire story. Fans really want to see that story come to life. The hope is that we will get more than one sequel, as Cameron has said in the past that they were planning multiple sequels.
There’s been a lot of talk about this film, hopefully we’ll actually see the creative team start taking action on it.
