Are you looking for ideas for new books to give to your children or to someone you know? Come on, this is where it happens, with our favorites of the month, the ones we loved reading with our kids.
Mamie Suzette’s laundromat, from 3 years
Written by Sophie Astrabie (who we already adored, especially for her album At the window)illustrated by the talented Maureen Pavoinec and published by Père Castor de Flammarion Jeunesse, Mamie Suzette’s Laundromat it’s a beautiful story that gives color to this whole slightly gray universe. An original and very tender love story, which talks about the meeting between grandmother Suzette, who manages all the tasks, and Mr. Pierre, who is particularly gifted in carrying them out. A nice nugget!

Elijah the squirrel, from 3 years
Gallimard jeunesse presents the great album written by Antoon Krings, in the collection “Drooles de petits bêtes”. It tells the story of Elijah the Squirrel, a little squirrel who is fed up with life in captivity with humans and children with sticky hands, and who decides to find a cozy nest in the hollow of a tree. Only one day he discovers an abandoned cuckoo egg there, which he decides to adopt. A beautiful story with particularly refined and delightfully retro drawings.

The doctor of emotions, from 3 years
The doctor of emotions and the emotional regulation kit, written by Anna Llenas and published by Glénat Jeunesse, is a great support for children who have difficulty seeing clearly into all their emotions. Returning to her character of the color monster, the author provides tools to sensitive children to help them express themselves, evacuate their feelings and make discomfort disappear.

Hänsel and Gretel, from 5 years old
The timeless tale returns from the pen of David Sala at Casterman Editions, with absolutely breathtaking graphics. Captivating, mesmerizing and very beautiful, this classic is to be proposed to all those who are fans of the sugar house and its evil witch.

The squirrel and the lost treasure, from 4 years
A tender crush on Coralie Brickford-Smith’s album, published by Gallimard Jeunesse. Very poetic, it tells the story of a small forest squirrel who hides his acorns underground before the winter and who is surprised not to find them in the spring. A particularly beautiful fairy tale in its Pantone illustration and perfectly chosen words, which speaks of the passage of time and the world that changes, season after season.

The wolves of the moon, from 3 years
By Liz Garton Scanlon and Chuck Groenink, published by Larousse Jeunesse, The wolves of the moon it’s a wonderful album full of rhyme and poetry, which makes us want to howl at the moon like these wolf cubs too. Here we follow the birth and childhood of a pack of wolf cubs, surrounded by their family, who live in the woods, face storms and grow up together. It’s so beautiful !

A week at GRRRand-Père, from 4 years old
Favorite notice for this sublime, BEAUTIFUL (yes, I write that in capital letters) album by Henri Fellner, published by Gallimard Jeunesse. The story is superbly written: it is that of a little girl who during the holidays is sent to her somewhat grumpy grandfather, and with whom she will spend the most beautiful, simple and extremely touching moments. An album to put in every bookcase, a real gem!

My first illustrated sound book in English, since I was 5 years old
This is not an album for children, but it finds its place in this selection, for all children who want to discover words in a language other than their own. Here English is the protagonist with this illustrated audio book published by Éditions Larousse. The item is fun: you have to stick the cards in a frame and press the stickers next to the pictures to hear the word spoken in Shakespeare’s language.

Swan Lake and 3 other ballet stories, for ages 4 and up
And hop, a new album illustrated by the brilliant Briony May Smith, written by Caryl Hart and published by Gallimard Jeunesse. Four world-famous ballets are told here: Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Firebird and The Nutcracker. Reading it gives us only one desire: to get tickets to the next ballet with the children, to introduce them to the magic of classical dance on stage.

Fourmillon, from 3 years
Charlotte Lemaire gives us, published by Biscoto, a great album with a whole series of captivating and mischievous characters. They are all looking for a comet that lights up the sky and hides behind the clouds, but they are all too small to get close to it. It will then be her turn to come and meet them. The illustration, with its unique graphics and colors, is quite eye-catching and eye-catching.
