Rose Ayling-Ellis is directing a TV adaptation of Will Dean’s first Tuva Moodyson novel about a deaf journalist in development Death in paradise Producer Red Planet Pictures.
The Be sure to come dance The winner is also an executive producer TUVA [working title]which will be forged as a six-part recurring crime version of Dean’s first novel in the series, Dark pine. The TV series moves the action from Sweden to Great Britain.
In Dark pine, Moodyson moves back to her hometown in the wilds of Scotland and works for a small local newspaper, desperate for a scoop. When a serial killer who has been dormant for twenty years starts killing again in the small community, she ends up on the front page of a story that could make her career. But will this put her in danger?
Former EastEnders Star Ayling-Ellis became the first deaf winner of Be sure to come dance in 2021 and has since landed roles on ITVs and others Code of silence. She is also developing a comedy about deaf women dating in London.
Ayling-Ellis is EP busy TÜVA with Belinda Campbell, Caroline Skinner and author Charlotte Jones (The Halcyon).
“When I read Charlotte’s scripts and then delved further into Will’s books, I immediately knew that this was a role I wanted to play and a world I wanted to explore,” said Ayling-Ellis.
Red Planet has secured the rights to all novels in the Moodyson crime series. The theater group, supported by Asacha Media Group, is also working on adaptations of books by Louise Candlish and Anthony Johnston The Exphoria Code.
