EXCLUSIVE: Silver Lining Entertainment has signed Niousha Noor, star of Maryam Keshavarz’s multi-award winning Sundance drama The Persian versionfor representation.
Currently in movies via Sony Pictures Classics and Stage 6 Films, The Persian version is about Leila (Layla Mohammadi), an aspiring Iranian-American filmmaker who reunites with her family during her father’s heart transplant in New York City and comes into conflict with her mother when a personal secret is revealed. The film received strong reviews from Sundance 2023, where it won the festival’s Audience Award and Waldo Salt Screenplay Award and stars Noor as Leila’s conservative mother, Shireen.
Noor currently also stars with Giancarlo Esposito, Rufus Sewell, Paz Vega, Jai Courtney and more kaleidoscope, the heist series from Netflix creator Eric Garcia that debuted in January. She previously starred in the IFC horror thriller Midnight The eveningopposite Cannes Best Actor winner Shahab Hosseini (The seller), which made history as the first American-made film to be officially released in Iran since the Iranian Revolution over forty years ago. She also appears on Alan Ball’s HBO show Here and now and Freeforms stickerrecently published on 9-1-1: Lone Star And The Accidental Wolf.
