Josh Androsky, who was hired as a senior adviser to Los Angeles City Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez, has resigned after making anti-Semitic comments on social media about Jewish comedian and actress Amy Schumer.
Androsky posted his vile comments about X in a conversation in which he referenced both Schumer and the Nazi concentration camps.
“My employee’s social media posts were (previously) disturbing and reprehensible. As anti-Semitism has increased in recent years and especially in recent weeks, making Holocaust jokes is not only heinous, but also dangerous,” said Soto-Martinez.
“These anti-Semitic and misogynistic messages disgusted me and I accepted his resignation with immediate effect.”
Androsky’s account @ShutUpAndrosky appeared to have been deactivated on Saturday, although screenshots of his comments circulated online.
Mayor Karen Bass expressed her disapproval of the matter. “The anti-Semitic and misogynistic remarks made today were reprehensible, repulsive and dangerous and in no way represent the city family,” Bass said in a statement.
“Right now, City Hall should be a beacon of hope and not hate. I am glad that the responsible employee has resigned.”
